Find Family

I am interested in all branches of my family, including the surnames Munn, Munden, Blanchard, Penty, McCurdy and of course Cannings. I am also interested in tracing the history of my wife's families, with surnames such as Holm, Petersson, Mazzocchi and Stefani.

Ironically, the Cannings side of my family tree is the least known. I have as yet been unable to find a record of the marriage of my great-great grandparents James Cannings and Mary Applin but am happy to announce that I have traced the Cannings line back to at least George Cannings, born in Batheaston, Somerset in 1732. Research done by Alf Munden of Bridport, Dorset has allowed me to link the Mundens of Newfoundland with the Mundens of Dorset. Other new Munden information I've added has come from the Brigus, Newfoundland websites created by Ralph Roberts and Bill Bloomquist (linked below).

A caveat about the GEDCOM trees listed below: Family Tree Maker takes all my "about" dates and turns them into definite-looking dates until you look at the details in a specific box. For instance, "Died about 1835" is listed in the trees as "Died 1835". As well, these reports contain a few unverified connections--use at your own risk!
