Home Page of A. Carpenter

Updated January 12, 2008

This site is dedicated to Benjamin Carpenter and his two sons, Hensley Sr.and Richard E., who migrated to Giles Co., TN around 1810. It is thought that Benjamin was born in England ca. 1730/1750. He is known to have been buried in Amherst Co., Va. in 1832. He is reported to have arrived in America directly from England while still in his teens and lived in Queen and King County, Va. before moving to Amherst county. Descendents Y-DNA tests prove genetic links to the Tennessee and Kentucky lines, not the New York lines as speculated by earlier works.

I would appreciate any information concerning his origins and his Revolutionary War record.

  • SOME DESCENDENTS OF BENJAMIN CARPENTER (311 KB)
Our Benjamin appeared in Amherst Co., VA. He served in the militia during the American Revolution. Sufficient documentation exists for his descendents to apply for menbership in the SAR and DAR. He allegedly came to America with several brothers whose identity remains undiscovered. His only wife of record was named Mary whose last name is yet to be determined. His descendents spread westward to Ky.,Il.,Tn,and south to Al. and Tx. where many of us presently live. Further information would be appreciated.
