11. HERBERT LORNE3 CARRUTHERS (ARCHIBALD2, WILLIAM1) was born May 05, 1883 in Cannamore Ontario, and died July 01, 1985 in Virden Manitoba, Virden Cemetery. He married MARY ELIZABETH (BESSIE) ODELL December 28, 1910 in At father Amos Odell's home at Hargrave Man.. She was born April 19, 1891 in Hargrave Manitoba, and died August 13, 1977 in Virden Manitoba, Virden Cemetery.

ERBERT LORNE CARRUTHERS:
Lorne met Bessie when he used to go out West on harvest excursions to his Uncle Bill Carruthers farm at Hargrave Manitoba.

Lorne decided to make the West his home. In the summer of 1906 he took a trip, riding freight trains, as far as his Uncle Andy's (Carruthers), Camrose Alberta, and did some draying with a team of horses. He washed dishes in a hotel at Swift Current for a week, helped dig some wells, etc. He came back for harvest at his Uncle William Carruthers, Hargrave. He bought a farm, CPR land, section 27, Township 10, Range 27, three and a half miles south of Hargrave Manitoba. Lorne went back to Ontario in the fall of 1906. On April 3, 1907, he landed with a carload of settlers effects, (four horses, lumber) by train and started to farm. He bachelored for four summers, stayed three winters with his Uncle and Aunt, John and Teen O;Neil, one mile from his farm.

Loren and Bessie married at her home, Amos Odell's 10:00 AM December 28, 1910 by Reverend A. Alexander, a quiet wedding. Harvey O'dell drove them by cutter and team to catch the train at Virden at 12:30. Lorne and Bessie went to Lorne's home in Crysler Ontario, for their honeymoon. ($40.00 excursion tickets for three months) They made it in time for New Years and stayed 2 months with Lorne's parents.
Lorne and Bessie celebrated 60 years married December 28, 1970. Lorne lived to 102 years of age.

EORGE ANDREW CARRUTHERS:
Was a teacher. Farmed four and a half miles south west of Hargrave for eight years. He sold the farm and bought a fram one and a hlf miles west of Virden in 1920. He sold out in 1943 and moved to Kelowna BC in 1944.

Walter married Elsie Mulligan from north of Ottawa. They lived on a farm near Crysler Ontario for over 20 years. Then Walter and Wallace bought ten acres on a farm against the village Chesterville, Ontario (abt 1945) . Wallace stopped farming around the time of Walter's death.
