Five were listed from eldest to youngest and then a sixth was listed as J. Culp, age 16, male, born S.C. Approximate birth dates are computed by subtracting their ages from 1850.

Four children. "Captain Bill", Book Three, 1990, says on page 168 that the marriage was on January 8, 1857, but this is contradicted by the birth dates. See "McFadden Family" on pages 332-333 of "Heritage History of Chester County, South Carolina", 1982, which says: "married first, Susan McKinney on January 8, 1857, and second, Susan Hyatt". This is totally at variance with other information, and indicates long held confusion about this family. Page 179 also says that the marriage was 8 Jan 1857.[culp.ged]
