Bill was a shipwright. He married Alice Clark and they had two sons nicknamed Ging and Gor. Alice died prematurely of consumption leaving Bill to raise the two boys. Both died of consumption in their 20's.
Bill was heavily involved in the formation and management of Walker Celtic, a local football club.
