ENO CARPENTER:
Had his Estate confiscated as a Loyalist. He was a prominent man about the county During the Revolutionary War. Shortly after 1700 he bought a large farm at Cornwall,Orange County, NY,Whwere he resided untill his death. He made out his willDec 22,1811 and says he is " full of years". He very singularly left his estate to the children of his son Thomas. This will was disputed by his other children on account of incapacity to make will by reason of his great age. A chancery suit was insituted Dec 6, 1813, entitled Jacob Latting vs. Thomas Carpenter. There were twenty-two grand-children of Zeno named in the preceedings, They beingof Sarah,Dinah, and Cornelia, deceased before their father. As this suit never came to a decree it was probably settled amicably.!Number 70 in the Carpenter Family in America, 1901 book.
