OL. WILLETT CARPENTER:


On the voyage his wife gave birth to their son Willett. He became a extensive ship owner, and afterwards in partnership with David Hatfield,was a prosperous merchant at St. John. He was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church at St. John, and well known in the comunity for his ability and honest dealings.

!He was a loyalist and became a Colonel in De Lancey's Battalion and as a
consequence he was forced to leave the country at the close of the
Revolutionary War. He had been married only a short while, when they left New
York on the ship Cyrus, with his parents & siblings, in September 1783 for what
is now known as St. John, New Brunswick, Canada, on Sept 1783
On the voyage his wife gave birth to his son Willet, who, as far as the above
reasearcher can tell was their only child.
Col. Willett Carpenter became an extensive ship owner and afterwards in
partnership with David hatfield, was a prosperous merchant at St. John. He was
communicant of Trinty Episcopal Church, St. John, and a man well known in the
community for his ability and honest dealing.
