'January 7, 1997. In 1852 he was licensed to exhort by the Rev. Phineas Rice, and
received his first certificate in 1855 - For forty-two years he was an accredited lay
preacher of the Methodist Episcopal Church. For some time he had been a
sufferer, and his decline became noticeable. She who had been his devoted wife
since December 16, 1848, ministered unto him. There were no children to call.
On January 7, in the third watch of the night, he heard the. cry, "Behold, the
Bridegroom cometh! " and with lamp trimmed and burning he went out to meet Him

He married SARAH SUTTON UNDERHILL160 March 16, 1816161, daughter of BENJAMIN UNDERHILL and ABIGAIL SUTTON. She was born November 25, 1795162, and died 1888162.

Notes for SILAS WEEKS:


(Benjamin Underhill and Richard Weeks were cousins, sharing the same Grandparents. Silas and Sarah are second cousins, sharing the same great Grandparents.) Silas and Sarah had 4 children, Benjamin Weeks, Esther Jane Weeks (never married),
Richard Weeks, and Susan Weeks, all born in Somerstown, NY on the family homestead. Richard Weeks married Phebe Griffin and they had two children, Jane Weeks and Daniel Griffin Weeks. The family homestead was willed to Richard, who then
passed it on to his grand nephew, Edwin "Ned" Willets Weeks, who then sold it. (See memories written by Ned Weeks in 1947 for more information). Susan Weeks married Jared H. Green and they had one daughter Sarah.

Sarah and Elizabeth were sisters and married brothers Joseph and Silas Weeks. Sarah and Silas moved to Maryland in search of a better life but moved back within 8 years.
