Notes for S
MALLWOOD VENOLIN RAY:
[May13also.FTW]

I found a "Ray, S." in the Parker Co. TX 1860 Census. Parker co originated Dec 2 1855 Parent County are Bosque and Navarro.

Most of the information on this family came from an article given to Michelle Rawlings (MR8267@aol.com) from Darlene Peterson. The title of Peterson's article I believe is "Baker Family". Some additional information was gleamed from the book "Red Cloud Ranch and its People" that was loaned to me by Shirley Thompson Dowd (my maternal Aunt).

In e-mail correspondence with Louella Taylor (lltaylor@vvm.com) I received the following email on Sept. 30 1999.
Kathy,Thanks for your information. I'm still not sure if we are
"cousins" but this is all the info that I currently have on Smallwood Venolin Ray.Unknown
birth date, wife's name was Irena Delcifano Delviso Deldovaco(which I can
not find out anything about her background either) born Nov 221835 place
unknown.Died Sept 24 1912 in Lucerne, Ks (place no longerexists, but was on
my family homestead) she was buried there and later moved to the
Hoxie(Sheridan Co. Ks) Cemetry with the rest of the family. Heis buried
there also. They were from Oklahoma and he did work on therailroad. I'm not
sure when they married but their daughter Lucinda was born Mar22 1861 in
St. Jo, Mo. Lucinda was my ggrandmother's mother and I havetheir history
from that point, but nothing before. My ggrandmother had a diaryin which
she said that her mother"Lucinda" had a sister but there are norecords or
any family history to document any other children. Your guess isas good as
mine at this point. Let me know if you find out anything moreand I will do
the same.

Some of the information fits and then somewill have
to be researched. Most of this information obtained fromTombstone.
Smallwood and Irena Ray information passed through family.Unsure of orginal
source.This is what I know:
Smallwood Venolin Ray (b. unknown) (d. unknown) married Irena*Baker Nov 4
1852 in Buchanan, Missouri (source: FamilySearch IGI Recordbatch #M514671)
Family has Irena as "Irena Delcifano Delviso Deldovaco". BornNov 22 1835
(Place unknown) Died Sept 24 1912, Lucerne, Kansas. She wasburied in
Lucerne and later moved to the Hoxie Cemetry, Sheridan Co.Kansas. Lucerne
is no longer there, it is dissolved and nothing remains there. My Mother's
family still live in the area and know most of the Cemetries andthings
there. She and her sister and brother are all that is left ofthat family
except for my Grandmother's sister. (I almost forgot about her,she might
know where Smallwood is buried since he would have been hergrandfather. I
will see if I can get in contact with her. She is in her 90's sonot sure if
she would remember or not, but worth a try. The last time I sawher she was
still smart as a tack and telling stories.) My Mother remembersa little
about her grandparents but not much about the Greats..

He and Irena hada daughter in 1861 named Lucinda, which married Franklin N.
Sibbald in 1874in Cloud Co. Ks. They had three daughters of which one was my
Greatgrandmother Emma "Sibbald" Husted, born Feb 14 1876 in JamestownKs. She
married William E. Husted on Mar 27 1895 in Concordia, Cloud Co.Ks. My
grandmother Mary "Husted" Coulter was born on Oct 3 1897 in Jamestown, Ks.
She married Charles R. Coulter on Jul 15 1914 in Beaver Co. Ok.The families
then moved to Kansas in the middle 1920's( my Mother was born inLiberal, Ks
in 1926) and settled there. I think that the Husted's, Rays, andCoulter's
all moved together or settled in the same area about the sametime. Don't
know if any of this fits your records or not. This can getcloudy at times
with all the information a little confusing. My cousin is tryingto find out
some info on Smallwood also and I am waiting to hear from him. I didn't
know about a book but will try to find a copy somewhere and seewhat I can.
Maybe Smallwood and Irena separated and that is why we can'tfind him but it
doesn't make sense with the children's birth dates to haveLucinda in 1861
in Missouri and then in 1867 to have William in Tx. do you haveanything
else on the other children or just William??
