He married MARIA ETTA UPHAM, daughter of EZEKIEL UPHAM and MARY TRAVIS. She was born 10 Oct 1822 in Sand Lake, Rensselaer County, NY, and died 13 Aug 1893 in Lyons, Clinton County, IA.

In 1893, Maud Carpenter, daughter of Mary Delia (Huntington) Carpenter died. Maud is buried in one of six lots purchased by George Washington Huntington in 1893, of which, 4 lots are used. Two Lots, with markers, are used by George W. Huntington and his wife Maryette. Another Two lots are used by Mary (Della Carpenter) and her daughter Maud Carpenter (unmarked but listed on record there) and the 2 remaining lots are unused.
