Descendants of Robert Joplin

      79. Robert T4 Joplin (Elihu3, Mark2, Robert1)21 was born April 1823 in ca 1845, Missouri census shows tenn, and died 1893 in Tenn. He married Dorcas Briant 1845 in Wilson County, TN, daughter of David Briant and Mary Lane. She was born 1826, and died April 21, 1905 in age 78 years Wilson CO, TN.\\

Notes for Robert T Joplin:
Possibly another daughter, It would seem that Frank Finch Joplin's grandfather, Robert, was a son of Mark Joplin Jr, born Wake County ., N.C.

It is possible that your Robert Joplin had a middle initial, " T " . note the 1851 Will of Mary Nolin was witnessed by R. T. Joplin. Later in 1862, the will of Caroline P. Bowers, daughter of Mary Nolin was witnessed by Robert Joplin.

Mrs. Freeman, question the Dorces Briant, and think she was a Smith. She said that Robert father is Elihu Joplin son not his brother Mark Joplin Jr , son as I was told by Billie Staggs on of his descenden. I am sure she has only follow by what she has been told. And their is proof that he indeed is Elihu Joplin.

I know you have a picture of Harris G Joplin. I am sending you a picture of James Joplin son of Howell T. Joplin. He was my Mother's second counsin. Harris was born around 1810. James was born 57 years later but they could pass for brothers. This must be what the early Joplins looked like. B: Dec 1867 D: Feb 17, 1911

This is from my Moore book about Howell T. although it contains some other Joplins who married into the Moore's also but they were here so I will skip that part. I also have a lot of Joplin probate and court records here but can pretty well identify all of them except Rachel ( If memory serves) but may have been a sister of a Mark Joplin. I also have some stuff on them from Early Court Records, ect.

Obituary of Howell T. Joplin
----------------------------------------------
Howell T. Joplin was born in Wilson County, Tennessee April 28, 1827 and died at his home in Crawford's Prairie Saturday, April 26, 1902, age 75 years less two days. He was married in Lebanon, Tennessee to Polly Ann Gibson ( on June 15, 1847). to them, four childern were born, two of these childern are dead, the two left are Robert and Howell Joplin Jr. His first wife died in 1863 in 1865 he married Mrs. Anna Dial McRoyall. To this union six childern were born, one of whom,,,,,,,,, Elisha, is dead. Those living are: James M. Joplin, J.B.( John Burris ) Joplin, Fannie Moore, Anna Nolen and Ida Moore. Howell Jr. lives in Union County while the rest reside in Franklin County. Howell T. came to Franklin County in 1856 and has been a resident of Frankfort Township ever since that time. He united with the Baptist Church at Cedar Grove, Wilson County, Tennessee, and was made a mason at Lebanon, Wilson, Tennessee. He was, at his death, the second oldest mason in the county, with Major D. Mooneyham holding the honor by a few days. He was a member of the Benton Lodge No. 64, A.F. & A.M., and was a charter member of Frankfort Lodge No. 567. He was always an active member of the church and was a good man. He was a member of Company A. 128th Illinois Volunteers, and served three years during the Civil War, and was a brave and faithful soldier. He had the respect and good will of all who knew him.
For about a year and a half his health was slowly failing and he knew the end of his life was at hand. He expressed his readiness to die, and his firm belief in a blessed immortality.
The funeral was held at the family homestead in Crawford's Prairie at 2 p.m. 27 Aprill 1902. Rev. James Nolen, his pastor, preached the sermon.
After the sermon the body was taken in charge by the mason and the remains were escorted to the cemetery and interred with Masonic honors. It was the largest funeral procession seen on the Prairie for many years. There were some seventy carriages and wagons. The masonic service at the cemetery was very impressive. Our brother lived a long and usefull life and has finished the fight and gone to his reward. Peace to his ashes.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This obituary does not mention the fact that he married a third time. Probably the reason this marriage is not listed is that she and Howell T. separated a short while after their marriage

Obituary of Anna Dial McRoyall Joplin
-------------------------------------------------------------

She has gone to rest ,our sister, Anna Joplin, wife of Howell T. Joplin, died after a short illness during which she bore her suffering with fortitude seeming to retain her mind to the end. I was told she pointed her childern to Christ and urged them to meet her in Heaven. She turned to her husband and said " There seems to be a little darkness nearby but just beyond is Light and Bright.
Funeral services were held at Crawford's Prairie, Brother W.L. Rowland and the writer officiating. There was present a large audience, Relatives and Friends and many tears of sympathy were shed. She leaves a husband and six childern to mourn her departure. A host of friends also regret her absence. May God express her dying exhortation upon her childern. God help each of us to live looking beyond deaths dark waves to see the light of eternal day

The Name is Royal not McRoyall, on his genealogy. I belive it Royal not McRoyall for the reason of the Civil War Records. The "Mack" could be where the McRoyall came from and they called her firsts husband, Mack!.
