Letter from Clara Carrico, Rt 2, Boise, Idaho 83702

Dear Joplins 11-1-1972

I have not forgotten you I forgotten I just don't do thing when I should.

I showed your letter to mom & she dident no any names but said grandma always spoke of Benton County, MO. This is the information I have to send you.

This is my JOPLIN heritage.....

In May 1879 Slatain & Cynath Joplin and Isham and Jane Joplin left Joplin Missouri and went to Kansas to get Margie. Her husband was killed, burnied in pairie fire so they brought her and and her daughter with them. They got here in Boise Aug 1879.

They homestead 640 acres down here on the Boise river where I now live. Isham & Jane J. built first house where our house now sets & he also donated 21/5 acres for JOPLIN Cemetery.

Bell Joplin married John Hansford Harris. Childern, William Harris, Grover Henry Harris, Johnnie Martin Harris, My father Raymond Harris, Orval, Alta & Cordia, the last three died when they were babies.\\

My grandfather John Harris was killed back of are barn by his pet bull.
Orval was kicked by a colt in the same barn at age of 2 years & was killed.

Margie J, lost her mind & died in asylum in Blackfoot, Idaho also Ulyesse same fate \\

Leals spent some time in asylum during her life. Also 2 more from the Statian family line lost their minds.
