Died September 25, 1921 Mrs John Martin. She was the former Mary Frances Joplin and was born in Green County, Missouri December 5, 1842. Her father was a Methodist Minister and for him the city, Joplin was named. In 1862 having been left an orphan, she came to the vicinity of Fairfield, where the following year she married John Martin. Three years later they moved to a farm north of Lincoln and then Mr. Martin died in 1894. After a few years, she disposed of the farm and purchased property in Lincoln, where she opened a small store. She leaves a half - sister, Mrs Holly Grace of Urich, a half - brother, Fletcher Joplin of Urich and a brother, Wilber Joplin of Scott City, Missouri
