Iam looking for information about my great - garandmother's family. Her name was Darcus Elizabeth Joplin, Boothe. She was born in Turner County, Tennessee on 11-17- 1896. Her father's name was Eli Joplin. My great-aunt thinks he was born in Missouri. Family legend has it that his family founded Joplin, Missouri and the wealthy JOPLINS stayed in Missouri. The poor ones moved tp Tennessee and Teaxs. ELI ended up in Teaxs later. He died in the 1920's - we think near Denton. DARCUS' mother was named PARALEE WHITMAN. We think she died around 1904 in the Dallas area and was born also in Turner County - I have no idea what year. Any help would be appreciated. Le Anne Davis

John Jefferson BOOTHE married Elizabeth JOPLIN. Jeff 's parents were Elam BOOTHE and Diamy ( pronounced Dah - mee ) BOOTHE. They were distant cousins. Elam was quite a bit older than Diama. I was told by a great- aunt that the marriage between Elam & Diama was not well accepted by their familes. They moved to Texas around 1886. The following information is out of the family Bible & is incomplete. Elam died in 1896. Diama was born in 1859. They had 7 childern.
