She married Veron Roach September 7, 1922 in Cherokee Co, TX. He was born 1882 in Rusk Co., Texas, and died 1961 in Tarrant Co., Tx.

Hattie Seale Joplin was born Kerens Navarro Co., Texas 19 Aug 1890 . She married Veron Roach Rusk Cherokee County, Texas,7 Sept 1922. " My father was John Lumberton Joplin, born Chesterfield Co,. S.C. , in or near Chersaw in 1860. He died 10 Dec 1939 in Rusk, Texas and is buried in Kerens Cemetery. My grandfather was Dosse Joplin, a Baptist minister, who married Margaret McNair in South Carolina.

I do not know the name of Dosse Joplin's father, but family tradition has it that he came from Scotland and operated a woolen mill in Charleston, S.C. untill his death." Note: his father was born in North Carolina. He was a son of Alfred Joplin and grandson of James Joplin, Jr. _H.H.\\

The Joplins migrated to Texas in 1872 from their plantation in South Carolina which had been ravaged by Union soldiers. They settled in Bazette, a little community near Kerens in Navarro Co; most of them are buried there.John L. Joplin had several brothers and sisters. I have copied the tombstone records there. Margaret McNair Joplin, John L. Joplin mother was born 24 June 1839 and died in July of 1888. After her death Dosse Joplin returned to South Carolina, where he married again. There were two daughters by the second marriage, Ruth and Naomi. Dosse Joplin died around 1900 in Union Co., N.C." Rev. Dosse Joplin, listed as Dorsey, served as a private in Capt. Kelly's Co., Chesterfield, S.C. Artillery. _ H. H. \\\\

He married Ione Phoebe Cocke November 25, 1925 in Austin, TX, daughter of William Cocke and Browine Rees. She was born July 27, 1879 in Austin, TX.

Mary Elizabeth Joplin is my dad brother daughter, She told me that i was named after her my dad is supose to be her father. I ask Robert Leroy Buck my hafe - brother if this was true and he said yes it was.She told if i ever seen her i would belive what she was saying. Will i did see her and she look like dad in away. She said she ask her mom and she said her mom said he lied. Buck said my dad told her he was her father at a dance she was at. He told he did not like what she was doing and he told her no daughter of his was going to be like that. This could be true but who no for sure just she was not to nice about it.\\

He married Lena Marie Penzero Abt. 1936 in Liberty Missouri, daughter of Anthony Panzero and Mary Perono. She was born September 2, 1918 in Kansas City, Jackson, Missouri, and died October 28, 1997 in Kansas City, Mo.

William C. Joplin, 85,. northeast Kansas City, died Dec. 21, 1990, at Truman Medical Center. He was a lifelong area resident. Mr. Joplin was a baker at the National Biscuit Co. for 21 years. He was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife. Lena Joplin of the home; a son Anthony Joplin, Kansas City; two daughters, Rosemary Zion, Pleasanton, Kansas.; and Ida Marie Shapiro. Kansas City; eight grandchildern; and 10 great - grandchildern. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Earp Truman Road Chaple; burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Raytown. Friends may call from 7 to 8.30 p . m. Wednesday at the chapel, where the rosary will be said at 8 p.m.

OBITUARIES

JOHN OWEN

BARSTOW - John E. Owen, a 38-year resident of Barstow, died at home Friday, May 1, 1998. He was 79.

Born in Hodge, mo., on July 13, 1918, Owen worked as a salesman for Lubrication Engineers for 21 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War 11 and belonged to the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and National Rifle Association. Owen was a member of First Christian Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Martha Dewittie of Barstow; a son Jerry of Saugus; a sister, Martha K. Jones of Grandview, Mo.; two brothers, Robert of Aurora, CO and William of Winter Haven, Fla.; and three grandchildern.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Wensday, May 6, 1998 at Mountain View Memorial Park, 37067 Irvin Road.
