William T. Mills and wife Milly, with four small children, were living near Bladon Springs, Choctaw County, Alabama when the 1860 U. S. Census was taken. A few months later he enlisted in the Confederate Army and in a battle at Shiloh was wounded. A short time later he died at a hospital in Mobile. Milly attended him at the hospital where she contracted yellow fever and also died. The four children were reared by William's older brother John Burrel in Choctaw County. The present members of the family would like to know what Milly's maiden name was, and who was William and John Burrel's father. If anyone reading this can help, please contact me at my internet address on the Family Site. The Burrel Mills Family Reunion is held annually on the first Sunday in June at the Paul B. Johnson State Park, Hattiesburg, MS. |
