1. Northern Tribune 7 Mar 1928---Richville News. Mr. Thomas Tanner died Feb. 24th at the home of his step-son H.W. Stevens in West Carthage and the funeral services were held on the 27th at the home. Mr. Tanner was 72 years old, and was born in London Mar. 17,1858. For many years he was a harness maker and had a shop in this village. About two years ago he and his wife went to Carthage to live with their son. Mrs. Tanner died last June and since then, Mr. Tanner has been in failing health.
2. Arcadian History in Canada,www.arcadia.org, tells how the Arcadians were kicked out and many stayed away for fear of death, which happened to many when they returned to Canada. Many settled in Massachuetes, Main,all the states along the St Lawerence,eventually settleing in Louisana,Mass,Nova Scotia etc. My family escaped to Mass. and refused to return to Canada when clemancy was granted. That would be Alexander Boodry,whos family survived. Looking for any info on his family who stayed in Mass..he married my greatgrandmother Augusta Ritchie 1889.

Samuel and Sarah came to America with 4 children.They were Hannah,Jane, Esther,George.Elizabeth was the only one born here. Samuel went to work in the coal mines,work he did in the old country.It was in the coal mines that he died and left his wife Sarah a widow. James,Samuel's brother came over in the late 1800's.He married his brother's widow Sarah,to help raise the children.James and Sarah had two children. James worked in the coal mines, as his brother before him.Yes,that is where he met his death. .

10. Northern Tribune 28 Jan. 1954. Obit of Henry W. Stevens dated 28 Jan. 1954 states that he was born Jan.18, 1880 in the town of Gouverneur.
11. Gouverneur Free Press Jan.30,1907. Jan. 28- James C. Stevens,highly esteemed resident of Homestead died at his home Wednesday afternoon. He had reached the age of eighty-two years.He is survived by his widow Mrs.Mary Stevens, who is in feeble health, two sons and one daughter,W.L.Stevens of Potsdam, E.Stevens of Homestead, and Mrs.T.A.Tanner of Richville. The funeral was held at the home of the deceased, Rev. Thos. T. Davis, of Sandy Creek, officiating. The deceased was born in Vermont in 1824, son of Levi and Frances Stevens. He moved to North Gouverneur about sixty years ago. He was married to Miss Mary Patterson in 1850. Mr. Stevens was a member of the Congregational church for over forty years and a decon about fifteen years. He was highly respected and had many friends.

13. Gouverneur Free Press 29 Jun 1927 issue of Gouv.Free Press is the obit of Mrs. Thomas Tanner, which states that Henry Stevens is HER son. There is no mention of her parents or previous husband.
