The Judge of Ordinary appointed George Martin Champion executor of his father's will.

As administrator George Martin petitioned the court on October 30, 1832 to allow a sale of the

possessions of Jacob Champion not previously disposed of in order to effect a division amongst

the heirs of the said deceased and to prevent the loss of perishable items.  Permission was granted

and the sale was advertised in the Camden Journal October 6, 1832, to begin on December 20,

next.  The sale included livestock, grain and six hundred acres of land whereon the deceased had

resided.

Later, the remaining lands of Jacob Champion's estate was surveyed and a plat was

created and filed along with the surveyor's report on January 10, 1833.  There was five hundred

and twenty-eight acres lying in Kershaw District on both sides of Singleton Creek.  This tract of

land was sold at public auction to Wiley Patterson. Today that land belongs to the Duke Power

Company and is all under water.

of his heirs received $613.94 less the deductions noted in the will.  One share was paid to each of

six of Jacob's children: Robert Champion, William Champion, John Champion, Rebecca

Buckalew, George M. Champion and Claiborne Champion, The other seven shares were paid to

the children of Jacob's other seven children as the will directed.
