In an article from Lawrence County IL Biographical Book a story about James son John W says James was born in Ohio and reared in Franklin Co. IN. In the 1850 census for IN he put he was VA and in the 1860 IL census he put he was from OH. In 1995 my sister and I went to Franklin Co. IN and met a descendant of Joseph Miles (brother of James) and he said they were from KY and before that PA. Joseph remained in Franklin Co., IN and James left in 1852 and went to Lawrence Co., IL.
