Notes for Johann Peter Horgodt:
Arrived in America 1750 and lived in Frederick Co., MD (from Hargett Heritage by Clovis Stanford of Cotton Plant, MS), taken from page 116 of "Scotch-Irish Forever! The Stanfords" by Laverne Stanford, published 1996. This information has not, as yet, been researched for this report, so more proof is needed. provided some of the data presented here. She said that Henry Hargett was born b. October 31, 1728, Darmstadt, Germany; d. 1803, Mecklenburg Co. NC. No source notes were provided at her website.
From the HARGETT-L mailing list posted by Lloyd Hargett Cla55ic@aol.com Jan. 2001: "It is possible that Johann Heinrich Herget (John Henry Hargett), Johann Peter Herget (Peter Hargett), and Georg Friedrich Herget (Frederick Hargett) were brothers, but I have a copy of the baptism records from the church in Mutterstadt, Germany, which lists Johann Peter and Georg Friedrich as sons of Peter Herget, a blacksmith, so Peter and Frederick were definitely brothers, but the record does not mention Johann Heinrich. Johann Heinrich's birthplace is given by Felix Hargrett as Darmstadt, which is in the same general area as Mutterstadt. I am almost certain that Johann Heinrich is closely related to Johann Peter and Georg Friedrich: They arrived in Philadelphia within a couple of years of each other (1748, 1749, and 1750), all ended up in North Carolina (although Peter did move to Maryland), and all changed their surname to Hargett (same spelling), apparently at about the same time. Johann Heinrich named a son Peter, (but no Frederick); Johann Peter had a son named Georg Peter (reminiscent of Georg Friedrich). However, I have not seen proof that Johann Heinrich was a brother to the other two. If he was, he was baptized in another village or under another name. There is a brother named Johann Sebastian (b. 1715), so maybe he changed his name? Or he could be a cousin. If anybody has proof of Johann Heinrich Herget's parents or siblings, I would love to see it. Lloyd Hargett"

+ 2 i.   Johann Henrich2 Herget, born October 31, 1728 in Swabia, Wirtemberg or Darmstadt, Germany; died 1803 in Meckleburg Co., NC.
