I am presently researching the following families some more heavily researched than others but would appreciate any information regarding them and will be happy to share what I have.Thomas HOLDEN Sr., b. May 8, 1749 in Charlestown, Massachusetts and d. circa 1810 in Washington Parish, Louisiana. Thomas HOLDEN m. Margaret SPURGEON, Dec. 25, 1773 in Old 96th District., SC. I have this line back to England and rather extensively in the US. Other names associated with this HOLDEN line include in part, FOSDICK, LAWRENCE, and GROVER all of Massachusetts. Other names associated with this family include FLANNAGIN, PENNINGTON, and SPURGEON from South Carolina.
Descendents of Thomas HOLDEN Sr., in Louisiana include in part, MONTGOMERY, and CARROLL.

From originally the Mississippi Territory b. March 22, 1780, Joseph Turner MONTGOMERY settled in Sabine Parish, Louisiana where he lived out his life and d. November 15, 1870. He m. Sept., 30 1819, Levinia WALL. Their son Pleseant Thaddeus MONTGOMERY m. Lucretia HOLDEN and their daughter Elizabeth Lavinia MONTGOMERY, m. (1) William Hansford ADDISON, (2) Daniel Watkins CARROLL, and (3)James Archibald SUMMERS. After her third marriage the SUMMERS family moved to Marshall, Texas where they lived and raised their family. Many of the descendents of the above listed families lived and continue to live in Sabine Parish. I have a significant amount of information on families in this area.

John Berry CARROLL, father of Daniel Watkins CARROLL, was b. circa 1812 prob. in or close to Wake County, North Carolina. He came with his brother Calvin CARROLL to Sabine Parish where they lived and raised their families. Other surnames associated with this line include SHELBURNE, KNOTT, WATKINS, BARBEE, MILLER, COOK, CARTER, BARR, MCFARLAND and many others in the Sabine Parish, Louisiana area. It is said that the father of John Berry CARROLL, had a farm close to Raleigh, North Carolina and that they had brothers Benjamin and Moses that did not follow them to Louisiana.

Green B. WATKINS b. circa 1798 in Georgia came first to Sabine County, Texas and then to Sabine Parish, Louisiana. His wife Elizabeth was born circa 1797. There is little known of her.

William STROUD, b. circa 1735-1759 in Ireland came to America via the ship Betty Gregg circa 1767 and likely landed in Charleston, SC. William settled in Chester County, South Carolina. In this area the family appears to be closely associated with the MORRIS, KITCHEN, and WALL families. Nancy STROUD, daughter or William STROUD, married unk Mr. WALL circa 1795 in SC and had children Lavinia WALL, (previously mentioned) and Christopher WALL. Both of these children were born in SC in 1797 and 1796 respectivelly. The unk. Mr. WALL likely died in SC sometime between 1797 and 1800. He is never found on the SC census records. Nancy WALL is later found with her brother Ransom STROUD in Wilson County, Tennessee where she later marries in 1807 John MORRIS. The entire family later moved and settled in the Sabine Parish, Louisiana area.

Other surnames being researched include VANHOOK>NC>TN>MS>TX, ALLEN>MD>TX, RHODES>RI>TX, MACKENZIE,MD, SYKES,MD, STANDIFER,MD.

I also have many families that I have originally found in the Amite County, Mississippi area in the early 1800s.

I presently have a database of over 13,000 individuals.

HAPPY HUNTING!
