| Genealogy Research The Correa Family in Puerto Rico Research for the Correa Surname has traced the family to Arecibo, Puerto Rico. Historical records indicate that, The Villa of Antonio El Captain Correa in Arecibo, Puerto Rico was named after a Spanish military Captain that fought and defeated a British invasion in 1702. He is my 8th Generation Great Grandfather on my mothers side. He married Estephania Colon de Luyando (my 8th generation Great Grandmother). Details indicate that the family quickly moved to other towns in Puerto Rico including Isabela. Details also indicate that the Correa family ties into the Colon Family by way of Christopher Columbus (Cristobal Colon). Beatriz Von Hohenstaufen's father was The Holy Roman Emperor Philip of Swabia who married Irene of Byzantium (my 17th generation great grandmother and grandfather). Philip of Swabia's, father was Holy Roman Emperor Frederick Barbarossa who married Beatrix of Burgundy (France)(my 18th generation great grandfather and grandmother). The Correa Family to The Byzantine Empire - First Period The Correa lineage follows into The Comnenus and Angelus 1st Line of the Byzantine Empire with Irene of Byzantium (my 17th generation great grandmother) by way of Angelus Isaac II, Byzantine Emperor (my 18th generation great grandfather). Angelus Isaac II was son of Andronicus Angelus of Rome and Euphrosyne Castamonita (my 19th generation great grandmother and grandfather). Andronicus Angelus of Rome was son of Constantine Angelus and Theodora Comnenus (my 20th generation great grandmother and grandfather). Theodora Comnenus, was daugther of Alexius I Comnenus and Irene Ducena (my 21st generation great grandfather and grandmother). Alexius I Comnenus,ruled Constantinople (The Byzantine Empire) from 1081 until his death in 1118. His daughter, Anna Comnenus (great aunt) was considered the first female historian and wrote "The Alexiad," a fifteen volume history of the Comnenus Family. Alexius I Comnenus, was son of John Comnenus, and Anna Dalasenna (my 22nd generation great grandfather and grandmother). Irene Ducena was daugther of Andronicus Dukas and Maria of Bulgaria (also my 22nd generation great grandmother, and grandfather). The Correa Family to the Royal House of England The Correa family lineage enters into the Angevin and Plantagenet Dynasties of the The Royal Houses of England (1154 through 1399)and the Royal Houses of Spain by marriage.
