An Ode to Henry’s Bar There’s a little town in Ireland In my heart it’s nestled down A home of many Cassidy’s A place they named Scotstown
There’s a spar and there’s a butchers There’s a chipper for a bite Across the road is Tommy’s You could drink in there all night
But Scotstown has a meeting place Beating everything by far It’s where everybody welcomes you They call it Henry’s bar Peter Cassidy 2004
And funny enough a chance meeting one night (shock horror) in Henry’s bar between my brother Mick and Nuala took me on the trail of my heritage. Finding out just where the Cassidy’s had come from and especially the Cassidy’s of killycarnan, or as their known by other Cassidy’s from Roslea the Blacksmiths had always been an interest of mine. Whilst the records of Ireland were not kept till 1868 even then they were poorly kept it had been a daunting task but now with the help of Naula Cassidy-White Chairperson of the Cassidy Clan my Mother and a wonderful man called Pat Connelly my story started
