Thomas Casper, of Bertie County, is the earliest Casper I can directly tie us into. Thomas Casper's will was proved in Bertie County Courthouse in February 1828. His death was found to be March 2, 1827. The will lists William Casper, Cullen Casper, Kenneth Casper, Thomas Casper, and Asa Casper. There is also a land deed from Bertie County in 1797 listing Thomas Casper as grantee, and Sholar Cader as grantor. This information is supported by the works of Mr. Samuel E. Casper who lists the date of birth for each of Thomas Casper's children. Thomas Casper married Edith Barnes in 1796. Edith was the daughter of Henry & Jemima Barnes. Edith was born in 1770, and siblings were Rueben, Asa, Henry, Jemima, and Martha. |
