Updated May 6, 2006

WELCOME! I am trying to research my great grandfather, James Casey (we believe his middle initial was D.) from when he and his wife, Ellen Manly (born in Crossmolina, County Mayo Ireland 0n January 17, 1839)emigrated from Ireland between 1855 and 1858. He was born near Clonmel, County Tipperary Ireland on February 21, 1831, from what research thus far has shown. He came to South Carolina where his oldest son Richard was born in Columbia, SC. Shortly therefater they moved to Grahm North Carolina and went to work for the North Carolina Railroad as a boilermaker. They lived in Company Shops NC which, when the railroads headquarters moved to Virginia, became Burlington NC. He died in Burlington on July 20, 1891. His wife, Ellen Manley died in Portsmouth, VA. October 5, 1900. Most of the work on this geneology was completed by my cousin, Jack Daly. We welcome any imput that will trace their arrival in the US or family history in Ireland.
