Researching surnames: Casaceli
Regions: All The World!
History: We all came from Lipari, Sicily. We are all directly related. There are seven branches of "Casaceli" alive today.
First Emigrants: My branch of The Casaceli' were the first to leave Lipari which is in the "Aeolian Island chain," just north of Messina, Sicily.
Capo d'Orlando is where my great grandfather Angelo Casaceli moved to, married in and raised his family. Capo d'Orlando is in the Province of Naso, which is also part of Messina. He started his family in a home he named villa "Casa de Celli," which was over-looking the water's edge on the Mediteranian Sea.
In time, his son Felice Casaceli, my great uncle, began the process that would continue for several generations for of all Casaceli, the Emigration to new lands, which were Canada, Australia and The United States of America.
Felice (Felix), emigrated to the United States of America in 1889, entering through Ellis Island, and settleing in Greenpoint Brooklyn, New York.
My grandfather Antonino Casaceli, Felix's younger brother, was a Cooper by trade (barrel maker), as were many Casaceli in our familiy history. Some also made wine, some were tailors and some were fishermen. And many were businessmen, not just workers.
We The "Casaceli" of the world, live in just four countries. They are, The United States of America, Canada, Italy and Australia. And no matter where we Casaceli' reside, or how many generations since the first Casaceli was named (in the late 1500s), and no matter how many more generations are to follow, we all have certain traits and qualities that are unique to us, and us, alone.
And you know what they are without me telling you...
So, while you're probably grining, ear to ear and looking at each other, laughing, nodding your heads in unison and thinking, you know, he's right! Think back about some of those great memories of things that happened to you, such as, when you growing up, the games you played, or the ones you dated. Or maybe something that happened just last week. Or maybe something one of your children did in school, or on that vacation you took a few years back. Or maybe something about your mother and father, when they caught you doing something you shouldn't have, as a kid, or anything...
Just jot it down and send it to me.
I'd love to add those types of stories and more to our tree. But first, we need to get to know each other, so you will know I am for real and one who protects our family information.
All personal information remains that way in our family, private. Names such as in the web tree are just that. Names...
I am in touch with many in our family and we exchange information and photos. So, why not find out who we are, and see what I have, as I will send you all the information I have in text format, and join in the fun.
So, listen up cousins, get in touch with me, I need the stories, the family connections in the branches and I need facts. I need "You"! Your help...
God Bless you all! Buona Fortuna!
