JOHN LOVE and his wife MARGARET FLEMING LOVE were born in Ireland in 1800 and 1801. I have reason to believe they were born near County Donegal or Tyrone but nothing definite. Four sons WILLIAM, THOMAS, DAVID and JOHN were born from 1825 - 1836 in Ireland. By 1839 the family was living in Bellefonte, CENTRE COUNTY, Pennsylvania. Between 1839 and 1845, three more children were born JANE, JAMES and MARY ELLEN.

DAVID was my greatgrandfather. After serving in the 45th PA Volunteers for the duration of the Civil War, he married ANNA IRENE EMERICK and had 6 children - MARGARET, JOHN ADDISON, MAUDE, CLYDE, GEORGE AND WINFIELD JEROME (originally named THOMAS.)

Margaret married George Symmonds and together with their three daughters Anna, Maud and Mary, they lived in Altoona, Pa.

John (Jack) married Katherine Tate and they lived in Bellefonte.

Maude married Charles Harrison and they lived in Bellefonte.

Clyde married Lydia Weaver.

George married Vada L. Cole. Their daughter Maud Alice was born in 1909.

WINFIELD J. LOVE was my grandfather. He married HELENA PACINI and they lived in BELLEFONTE, CENTRE COUNTY, PA. until her death in 1955. He died in ROARING SPRINGS, Pa. in 1959. They are both buried in St. John's Cemetery in Bellefonte. They had 6 children:

Cordula (Dot)(born 1907)who married Hymen Kaizen. Together with their 2 sons Michael and W. Jerome they lived at 909 Franklin Street in Roaring Springs, Pa.

David Louis (born 1912)married Florence Volynch. She was known as Billie. He worked at the Rockview Correctional Institute. She worked at Silver's. They lived on the outskirts of Bellefonte.

Anne C. (born 1915) married Leon Faltine of Lancaster. She graduated from St. Joseph's School of Nursing in Lancaster where they made their home. Leon (Bud) was a Lancaster City firefighter for 25 years and retired in 1966. He died in 1978. Anne worked as private duty nurse early in her career before becoming supervisor of the operating room at Lancaster Osteopathic Hospital. She died in 1995. They were my parents. See attached photo.

Mary Elizabeth (Betty) (born 1918) married Merritt Yearsley of Delaware. They lived in Pittsburgh for some years before moving to Erie, Pa. He died in 1971 and she died in 2001.

Sarah (born 1920) died at the age of 5.

Winfield Jerome (Jerry) married Ann Beskind of Erie. They lived most of their married life in Hamburg, N.Y. outside of Buffalo. He retired from Bethlehem Steel and died in 1989.

I am looking for any information on my great grandparents, or their siblings and parents. Thanks for any clues.

  • Anne & Bud Faltine (147 KB)
My Mother was a registered nurse and in the 1950's before there were paramedics, she was often called to the scene of a fire to treat firemen overcome by smoke. On one occasion, she arrived to find that my Father was the fireman that needed help. This is my favorite photo of my parents. The look on her face is so touching. Here is the love of her life stricken in the line of duty.

I believe this photo was taken between 1908 and 1910 in Bellefonte
