"Nancy V. Eldridge, 87, Passes Aug. 24"

Nancy Viller Eldridge of Turkey Creek died Saturday, August 24, 1940, following a long illness. Nancy Viller, an old settler of Turkey Creek, was known and loved by many people. She was 87 years of age, the wife of the late Ison Eldridge, who died several years ago. She has lived a Christian life 25 years and has been a member of the Regular Baptist Church during those years.
She is survived by 3 sons and 3 daughters; Mrs. H. C. Frazier, Cumberland, Ky; Mrs. W. R. Shepherd, Benham, Ky.; Mrs. H. W. Lewis, Gilly, Ky.; John L. Eldridge, Cumberland, Ky.; and Jessie and Alamander Eldridge, Banks, Ky. She also leaves 45 grandchildren and 75 great-grandchildren.
Burial was made at the Stamper Cemetery at Turkey Creek on Sunday afternoon.

The following article is from The Mountain Eagle newspaper dated 08/21/41, page 1, column 5:

"David Caudill Found Dead Monday Morn."

Monday morning just before noon the lifeless body of David Caudill was found hanging between the forks of two trees, about a quarter of a mile from his home. The Coroner and his jury at first believed the death to be suicide, but later they agreed that heart failure, resulting from a fall which threw him between the trees, was the cause of death.
Mr. Caudill, about 64 years of age, had lived just below Whitesburg for many years. He was a faithful member of the Regular Baptist Church. He leaves a wife, Margaret, three sons, John, Curt, and Charlie, one daughter, Essie, a grand daughter, who lived with them, and several other grandchildren and relatives. The funeral was held on Wednesday, with Elders G. Bennett Adams and Willie Francis officiating, and the body was laid to rest in the Sandlick Cemetery, near his home. The funeral was in charge of the Craft Funeral Home.
