Notes for Fred Frazier:
Fred and Sarah lived and reared their family on Smoot Creek (Hot Spot) a few hundred yards from Fred's childhood home. Fred worked in the coal mines. After Sarah's death, Fred was unable to work and care for his youngest children. So, he let Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Ragsdale, Missionaries from California, keep the four youngest in their orphage in Knott County, KY. They were located at two or three different places. Mr. and Mrs. Ragsdale lived in Hot Spot when they first came to Kentucky and taught Sunday School and Bible School there. They were fine people and did much for many children in this rural area. The following obituary is from The Mountain Eagle newspaper dated 9/2/43, page 10, column 7:

"Sarah Combs Frazier"

Mrs. Sarah Combs Frazier, wife of Fred Frazier of Premium, Ky., died August 26th, 1943 after an illness of many months. Mrs. Frazier was the daughter of Shade Combs of Smoot Creek, Ky. She leaves her bereaved husband, Fred five children, parents, and several brothers and sisters. She was a loving mother and wife and a good neighbor and will be missed by all who knew her. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. G. Bennett Adams and others August 29th, and burial took place in the Frazier Cemetery Premium, Ky.
