9. James⁴ Webb (John³, John², Robert¹) was born March 06, 1737/38 in Berks County, PA (now Reading Co., PA), and died December 31, 1825 in Letcher County, KY. He married Elizabeth "Lettie" Nelson. She was born Abt. 1784 ¹, and died Abt. 1867 in Oven Fork, Letcher County, KY.

Notes for James Webb:
James Webb apparently went with members of the Boone family to the Yadkin River section of NC while he was a young man. After marriage he moved to Lee County, VA, before traveling, probably through Pound Gap into the present Letcher County, KY area. Here he took up land in 1819. During the Revolution, James was an Aide-de-Camp to General Washington at the Battle of White Plains. During this engagement he was shot through the body and left for dead, but fortunately for many of us Kentuckians he subsequently recovered. He and Lettie are burried at Oven Fork.
