Enoch enlisted in Company D, 10th Regt. KY Infantry on 4 Oct. 1862 at Whitesburg, KY. I do not have his military record but know Enoch resigned as Captain. ... Enoch's three sons Riley, Henry and Andrew were privates in Company D. Enoch is listed as a blacksmith in the 1860 census.

The following is from the Letcher Heritage News, Vol. VII, No. I, Page 43:

Riley enlisted as a private in Company D, 10th Regt. KY Infantry on 4 Oct. 1862 at Whitesburg, KY. He was made corporal of Company D in 1864. Riley was born on 4 July 1843 in Letcher County and died on 18 Nov. 1915 in Johnson County, KY. ... Riley's father was a captain in Company D. Riley's two brothers Henry and Andrew were privates in Company D. Riley married Hester Ann Hackworth on 29 Jan 1868 in Letcher County, KY. He and Hester moved in 1911 to Johnson County, KY. Riley received a pension for service in the Confederate Army (#1558). Riley's brothers Henry and Andrew appear in his pension records with the following statement: "the said Riley Webb, was a faithful soldier while in the service and always obeyed the commands and orders of his officers in every respect". Pension records show that Riley surrendered on April 22nd 1865 at Cumberland Gap, KY. He also was paroled on 22 April 1865 at Cumberland Gap.

He was born January 21, 1820 in Jellico River, Whitley County, KY, and died June 29, 1862 in Wise County, VA.

Notes for William Green Adams, Jr.:
William Green Adams was one of Letcher County's foremost farmers and a miller as well as an elder of the Baptist church. When the Civil War broke out, he was commissioned a captain in the Union Army. However, he was shot by snipers and killed on June 29, 1862, on Pound River in Wise County, VA.
