The following is from the Letcher Heritage News, Vol. VII, No. I, Page 44:

Henry enlisted in Company D, 10th Regt. KY Infantry in 1862. He was paroled on 2 May 1865. Henry was born on 15 June 1836 in Perry County, KY. ... Henry's father and two brothers Riley and Andrew were members of Company D. Henry received a pension for his service in the Confederate Army (#1104). His pension record states he enlisted: "in the year 1862--under command; Capt. E.A. Webb, - Col. Ben E. Caudill, - Gen. Humphrey Marshall-". The following is a statement made by O.G. Halcomb and J.D. Caudill taken from the pension records of Henry Webb: "He was a very active soldier in the army--ready to act in obedience during service to orders and commands of officers in charge of the Co. & Regt.". Pension records also state Henry was "paroled on 2 May 1865 at Cumberland Gap, KY." After the war Henry married Frances Adams in 1866. Henry's nickname was "Chunk".
