      175. Andrew "Andy" L.7 Webb (Enoch A.6, Benjamin5, James4, John3, John2, Robert1) was born April 08, 1840 in Perry County, KY, and died January 08, 1929 in Letcher County, KY. He married Nancy Jane Adams September 05, 1866 in Letcher County, KY105, daughter of John Adams and Sarah Craft. She was born August 09, 1845 in Letcher County, KY106, and died January 20, 1929 in Letcher County, KY106.

Notes for Andrew "Andy" L. Webb:
The following is from the Letcher Heritage News, Vol. VII, No. I, Page 44:

Andrew enlisted in Company D, 10th Regt. KY Infantry in 1861 according to pension records. But the correct year is probably 1862. He was paroled on 2 May 1865 at Cumberland Gap, KY. Andrew was born in Perry County, KY, on 8 April 1840. ... Andrew's father was a captain and brothers Riley and Henry were privates in Company D. Andrew received a pension for service in the Confederate Army (#1975). Andrew's pension record states he enlisted "in 1861 - in Ben Caudill's command - Humphrey Marshall and John S. Williams". The following statement is made by J.D. Caudill taken from the pension records of Andrew Webb: "J.D. Caudill says the applicant was an active obident soldier during the war - reliable at all times during the time of service". The pension records also state Andrew was "paroled on 2 May 1865, by Colonel William Y. Dillard, 34th KY Infantry Volunteers, at Cumberland Gap, KY"...

According to census records, it appears that Andrew or "Andy" Webb also went by the name of Samuel or "Sam" Webb from about 1880 to 1910.
The 1850 Letcher County, KY, census shows 10 year-old "Andy L. Webb" with his parents, Enoch and Susanah Webb, and 9 other siblings in household #165 in District #2. The 1860 Letcher County census shows 19 year-old "Andy Webb" with his parents and 8 other siblings in household #40. The 1870 Letcher County census shows 28 year-old "Andrew Webb" with his wife, Nancy, and their 3 year-old son, Enoch Webb, in household #30 in Precinct #2. Also, Nancy's 12 year-old twin brothers, John and Archelous Adams, are listed in the same household. Andrew's father and step mother, Enoch and Martha Webb, are listed 'next door' in household #29. There were no Samuel or Sam Webb's listed in the 1850, 1860, or 1870 Letcher County, KY, censuses.
Beginning with the 1880 census, Andrew (Andy) and Nancy Webb seem to disappear and a Samuel (Sam) and Nancy Webb appear in their place. The 1880 Letcher County census shows a 36 year-old "Samuel Webb" with his wife, Nancy, and one 13 year-old son, Lee, in household #317/321 in Precinct #5. Andrew's parents are listed in household #425/429.
The 1900 Letcher County census shows a 62 year-old "Samuel Webb" with his wife, Nancy, in household #355 in the Whitesburg district. It shows that Samuel and Nancy were maried for 34 years (which is exactly how long Andrew and Nancy Webb would have been married in 1900) and that they only had one child who was still living. In fact, a 32 year-old Lee Webb with his wife Ardelia and 5 children were listed 'next door' in household #354.
The 1910 Letcher County census shows a 70 year-old "Sam Webb" with his wife, Nancy, in household #213 in the East Whitesburg district. Also, listed in the same household are Sam's 19 year-old grandson, Loyd Webb and his wife Elizabeth, and 7 month-old great grandaughter, Lola. The census shows that Sam and Nancy were married for 42 years and that they only had one child who was still living. Lee and Ardelia Webb were listed in household #150 in the Millstone district.
Finally, the 1920 Letcher County census shows an 80 year-old "Andrew Webb" with his wife, Nancy, in household #302. Lee Webb and his second wife, Lina, are listed 'next door' in household #301.
