1. THOMAS¹ JONES was born Abt. 1730 in Albemarle County (later Amherst), Virginia, and died Bef. March 07, 1763 in Amherst County, Virginia. He married DOROTHY UNKNOWN Abt. 1750 in Unknown. She was born Unknown in Unknown, and died Unknown in Unknown.

Notes for THOMAS JONES:
As of December 15, 2001, this family is just specualtion as to being the family of Ambrose Jones who married Martha Craige. Doney Brown came across research notes in an old box of papers from someone in Mesa, Arizona, giving this information. This much, he e-mailed to me, but said he will snail mail copies of the notes. I hope these papers will verify and document the information.
I received the papers, and they do not really verify this, but it is strongly suspected to be correct.
I believe there was also a son William born about 1764. And this William's wife could possibly have been Sarah, born about 1775.

There is also speculation, and I believe information was approved by the DAR as to the following (however, I have very strong doubts to its correctness).
Ambrose's parents reported as Ambrose Jones, born 1716 in Caroline County, Virginia and died January 23, 1792 in Granville County, North Carolina. He was married to Catherine Collins.
Ambrose Sr's father reportedly was Robert Jones born 1690
Robert's father reported to have been Richard Jones born 1662
Richard's father was supposedly Thomas Jones, born 1630 in Virginia

At least, there are now two leads to check out. Hopefully something can be documented.
