During Tranquilla's life the Risters and Smiths scattered across the central portion of Texas. Her life was filled with tragedy. Three husbands preceded her in death and her father was murdered. She spent much of her life living with her children. It is believed she was living with her son "Dutch" near Denison when she died in 1920.

26th Brig at Cameron 30 April 1862 under Capt Thomas H. Gatlin mustered in 3 May at Camp Terry

While some thought William Charles was killed in the Civil War, another report is that after the war he went to the Illinois-Missouri-Kansas area, started a large family of 8 children, owned a packing house in Kansas City, and grew prosperous. One of his descendants chanced by Wesley Henry Rister's Tye store in the 1930's (Rev. Calvin Rister still living there, )
