Generation No. 1

1. FRANCIS¹ SMILEY was born 1689 in Londonderry London, and died March 16, 1763 in Windham NH. He married AGNES WILSON.

Notes for FRANCIS SMILEY:
Francis Smylie descended from the Scotch Covenanters. He came to America with his wife Alice and three children: John, Hugh, and William. He settled first in Haverhill Ma. where three more children were born. Sixteen years later he moved across the line into NH, and settled in that part of Windham which was afterwards incorporated with Londonderry NH where he lived until his death.

Two years after his death, his farm was sold to Alexander Park, whose daughter Mary married Hugh Smiley. They removed to Winslow Maine and became the ancestors of a large family of Smileys.
