I was adopted only months after my birth and raised by my adoptive parents all my life. In fall of 1997, I finally completed the search for my biological family and made contact with several of my relatives. My third cousin, Michael J. Dornish, has been researching the Dornish/Dornisch family name quite extensively (the two families are one in the same... some of our ancestors changed the spelling so as not to appear so German).
In the 1850's, a man named Michael John Dornish came over to St. Marys, PA from Germany with his wife Margaret and their child. From that couple came a large number of Dornish/Dornisch descendants, one of which I am proud to be. There is apparantly another line of Dornisch's from the Philadelphia area, but it is believed that we all have common roots in Germany.

If you have any information about the Dornish/Dornisch lines, or if you are related to someone with that last name, please email me at palaas@velocity.net or email Michael at dornish@minot.com. We are willing to exchange information. If you would like to see my pedigree charts, visit http://www.velocity.net/~palaas/genealogy.htm.

Other surnames I am researching: SILVIS, CHEATLE, STOREY, BAMBERY/BAMBURY, MATHERS, BENNETT, TRESCH, SCHNEIDER, and SCHMIDT. (The last two are in my ancestry, but they're too huge to tackle at the moment.)

Thank you for visiting this page. I hope you'll write.
