Charles C. Chaney, 68, retired building contractor, died yesterday at 7:15p.m. at his home on Newark Rt 1. He had been suffering with heart trouble for several months, but his death was unexpected.
He was a member of E. Main St. Methodist church in Newark.
Surviving are his wife, Sadie Chaney; three sons, Clyde L. Chaney, Eugene L. Chaney and Walter C. Chaney, all in Licking county; six grandchildren; three brothers, Ward Chaney, Newark; Guy Chaney, Conesville' and Vernon Chaney, Columbus; a sister, Mrs. Moore, Trinway.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in teh home with the Rev. J. Fletcher Lewis, pastor of E. Main St. Methodist church, officiating, assisted by the Rev. H.H. Hoover. Burial will be in Frazeysburg cemetery.

Services for Clyde L. Chaney, 73, of 11812 Bolen Road, N.E., will be 2:30p.m.Friday in the chapel of Criss Brothers Funeral Home with the Rev. Gordon Tatman officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Chaney died Tuesday in Licking Memorial Hospital. He was born Feb. 26, 1905, in Newark, to the late Charles and Sadie (Norman) Chaney.
He was superintendent of Walter Chaney Construction co., member of First United Methodist Church, Gideona, and was a madison Township Trustee.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy (Iden) Chaney; one son, Ralph C. Chaney of Madison Twp.; one daughter, Mrs. William (Ruth Ann) white of Pittsburgh, Pa.; and five grandchildren. Two brothers are deceased.

Services for Walter C. Chaney Sr., 64, of 75 N. Hazelwood AVe. and Venice, Fla., will be 3:30 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of the Criss Brothers Funeral Home, witht he Rev. Clifton R. Hatfield officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Chaney died Sunday afternoon in Vience Hospital, Vience, Fla. he was born May 20, 1908, in Licking County the late Charles C. and Sadie Norman Chaney.
He was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church, a membe of the Board of Trustees of the Church, Newark Lodge 97, F & M, Scottish Rite, Columbus, Aladdin Temple Shrine, Columbus, Teheran Grotto, Newark, Untied Commercial Travelers, newark Kiwanis club, Licking County Shrine Club, and the Ohio State Sheriff's Association.
Surviving are his wife Louise M. Varner Chaney; a son, Walter C. Chaney Jr. of Granville; a daughter, Marjorie Chaney of the home; a brother, Clyde L. Chaney of Bolen Rd., Rt. 1; and two grandchildren.
Calling hours are 7 to 9 tonight and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Wednesday.
Services for Watler C. Chaney, Sr., 64, of 75 N. Hazelwood Ave. and Venice, Fla., will be 2:30 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Criss Brothers Funeral Home, with the Rev. Clifton W. Hatfield officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Chaney died Sunday afternoon in Venice Hospital.
He was the president of the Walter Chaney Construction Co. of Newark.

Mrs. chaney died Saturday afternoon at Licking Memorial Hospital. She was born may 20, 1911 in Licking County tot he late Thomas F. Varner and Grace (Simpson) Varner.
She was a resident of Licking County all her life, was employed as secretary and treasurer oft he Walter Chaney Construction Co. and a member of Christ United Methodist Church.
Her husband, Water C. Chaney Sr., died March 11, 1973. She is survived by one daughter, marjorie E. Chaney of the home, one son, Walter C. Janey Jr., of Granville, one sister, Mrs. Gus (Donna) Ehlirmann of Newark; two brothers: Elmer Varner of Lancaster, Calif., and Carson Varner of Punta Gorda, Fla. and two grandchildren. One sister is deceased.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
