1.Edward1Asa1,2 was born 1780 in KY3, and died Unknown. He married Rebecca3,4. She was born 1782 in KY5, and died Unknown.

He was in the 1860 Rock Island Co., IL Drury Twn., census as follows; Edward 80 born KY Rebecca 78 born KY.
I have also come to the conclusion that Edward and Rebecca Asa may not be Elijah's parents. Elijah states his birth place as Kentucky, both in the 1850 census and in his pension application. He also states that he joined the War of 1812 in Flemingsburg, Kentucky. I did not find an Edward Asa in Kentucky in the right time period. Edward is only 17 years older than Elijah, certainly old enough to be his father, but also young enough to be an older brother, or even an uncle. I did find a John Asa in Mason County, Kentucky. Flemingsburg is the county seat of Mason County. I am beginning to think that perhaps John was Elijah's father, although I have no real evidence either way. I note that Edward also says he was born in Kentucky, so perhaps he is a brother to Elijah. We may never know for sure, but I'll let you know if I turn up anything concrete.
