Descendants of Robert Chapman/Septima Sturgeon

Generation No. 1

1. ROBERT³ CHAPMAN (THOMAS², JOHN¹) was born 1833, and died August 10, 1881. He married SEPTIMA STURGEON February 07, 1857 in Armagh, N. Ireland, daughter of Andrew Sturgeon and Dorothy.

Notes
All children of Robert & Septima Chapman attended, as boarders, an agricultural college called "Brookfield" at Moira, Co. Antrim. The boys worked part time on the farm, while the girls helped with the domestic duties inside the household. The times spent at the school varied, but Richard left school on 23rd June, 1876.
An indication that maybe Septima was a non Quaker is a story related by a granddaughter of Hannah in America. She tells of how, when Septima used to collect the girls (Dorothea and Hannah) at the station when coming home from Brookfield, Septima used to change them out of their Quaker clothes in the toilets at the station before going home.
