Good Morning Jeanne!!!
I went to sleep early and awakened a little too early (4:00 a.m.). I was hoping to sleep later since I'll be awake late tonight. Maybe I'll get a nap this afternoon after I play golf again. Yesterday we played at a better course than day before yesterday and it was much more fun.
After tomorrow I'll be once more working a lot and won't have time to e-mail as often. Unless of course I awaken very early and do it then.
It doesn't seem to me that people are celebrating tonight as much as they did last year, judging from what is happening around me. I think people were more awed about bringing in the year 2000 than 2001. I guess the news tomorrow will either confirm or contradict my "theory."
Who are you still keeping in touch with that we knew from high school? I reestablished contact with Glen Haddon. He is living in Riverside and has married ffor the 2nd time to a very young morrocoan (I think) woman. He has a 5 acre ranch and has llamas and other animals. He seems happy.
I did tell you that Bob Ruiz died didn't I? He didn't suffer much. Thank goodness for morphine.
I am still doing my family geneaology. If you ever do yours I really reccommend the Family Treemaker geneaology program. It is incredible. In the last couple of days I have done a lot on my family tree. It might interest you know that Charlemagne is the 38th great grandfather of your high school bud. The nobility intermarried so much to keep power and wealth controlled that I think when I'm more finished with the report I will turn out to be related to all of them. Interestingly enough, I have traced my ancestry back to my 50th great grandfather. His name is Ansbert. I don't have his exact date of birth. I do know that his grandson St Arnoul 3 of Merz died in 641. He is Charlemagne's 5th great grandfather. Anyway that is a bit of trivia for you to end your year with or begin another century with.
Be safe tonight and have a wonderful time with your lovely family. Give them all a big hug for me.
Love,
Jewell

It's nice to see all the familiar names on the map. Summers is one of my family names. So is Laymance and Taylor. I don't know if the Taylor on the map is named after my Taylor family. Do any of you know which Taylor it was named after? I spent a very memorable day in Frozen Head State Park in about 1994. I did a 13 mile hike on the course where they do the Barkley (I'm not sure about the name) Marathons. It was in the month of July. The vegetation was so thick we had to use a stick like a machete to clear the way. We wore leather guards for our ankles and legs to protect us from the snakes. A dentist from Oak Ridge was my tour guide. He has done the race several times. I have one of the pictures we took on my refrigerator. It was taken in front of one of the places where a book was hidden. During the race each participant has to remove one page from a book at various locations which is used to prove the person was there. Do any of you know of the race I'm speaking of? When I was in Tennessee visiting relatives I had to go do some of the challenging trails. In some places the hills were so steep we had to hold onto saplings to pull ourselves up the hill. Truly magnificent
