As per M. Dow Lambert:

Merged General Note: Tax: Fincastle Co., VA 1770-1771 Montgomery: Co VA 1788-1790 Tax Wythe/Tazewell:Co VA records 1790-1820 Survey: Records 1786 Philip Lambert came to America as a reprieved English convict with William & Jeremiah Lambert in 1754. They came from Laindon Hills, Essex Co., England. So far we have not been able to find who they were bonded out to, but it is sixteen years later before we pick Philip up again. What became of William & Jeremiah is unknown. One legend says one brother went north to Pennsylvania but does not say what happened to the 3rd brother. Philip served in the militia several years in 1770's in Fincastle & Montgomery Counties. he conferred or conspired with the Tories at one time and had to take the allegiance to America again. he is found consistently in the Montgomery & Tazewell Co., VA records 1790-1820. Records indicate that the died about 1820.
