Notes for Robert Rudder: Information gathered from Revolutionary War Pension Claim (Record 17580).
On 6/5/1845, Robert Rudder (79), a resident of Knox Co., TN & son of Alexander Rudder, applied for pension that might have been due on account of the service of Epaphroditus Rudder, Lt. in the VA state Line, War of the Revolution. He stated that he was a nephew of Epaphroditus & one of the heirs;that after the Revolution, Epaphroditus Rudder, the soldier, moved to Darlington Co., SC where he continued to reside until 1795. When he died, without wife or "issue". He also stated that he was survived by only 2 brothers, his heirs-at-law, namely: Samuel & Alexander Rudder (Robert's father). Robert died before his claim was completed.
On 4/28/1847, Catharine (76), applied for pension that might be due to account of Epaphroditus war service. She made application in Knox Co., TN as the widow of Robert. She stated that the house frames that he built were shipped to Cuba.
As per notes of Earline Smith:
We believe that this Robert Rudder is Sterling Smith's father-in-law; Sterling lives five houses away. We also believe that the ages for the parents in this household should be in the 60-70 bracket not the 70-80 bracket because they were still alive in 1845 and 1847 respectively. Robert Rudder's son, Edward, lives in the house next door.
