The Salem Leader, 1/29/1887 - As we go to press we learn of the death of Rev. James Rudder, which occurred yesterday morning. He was an old & respected Citizen & represented this county in the Legislature some years ago.

Rudder, one of Washington Co.'s most widely-known & best-beloved citizens,m at his residence on Blue River, about 6 miles SW of Salem, of that dreadful foe to our race, consumption, from which disease he had been confined to his residence all of the time for about 5 months past.
Elder Rudder was born in Bath Co., KY, 10/9/1826.
