The Salem Democrat, 9/30/1885 - Mrs. Nancy E., wife of Wm. Rudder, died yesterday morning at 6AM after a brief illness of 2 weeks duration of type-malarial fever, aged 37 years. Mrs. Rudder was an estimable lady & a consistent member of the Ft. Hill Christian church. She leaves 7 children & a husband to mourn her loss. Mr. Rudder has the entire sympathy of the citizens of Salem in his bereavement, having had since his short residence at this place more than his share of sickness & trouble. The funeral services will take place this afternoon at the Blue River grave yard. The cortege will leave the jail residence at 12 'o'clock, m.

The Leader, 10/3/1885) - Mrs. nancy Rudder, wife of sheriff Rudder, died in Salem Tuesday morning last at 6AM of typhoid malarial fever. Owing to the continued rains, the funeral did not take place until Thursday morning, when the remains were interred at the Blue River grave yard, 4 miles So of town.
