Andrew M. Gest (with Masonic tablet) died March 29, 1852, aged 37 and his wife, Melissa,
daughter of Geo. S. and Mary Bryan, Jan. 22, 1841, aged 19. Mr. Gest was a brilliant writer and genial gentleman, and with the late Hon. R.W. Clarke, established the Courier March 19, 1836.

Died near Milford, in this county on Monday night last, Mr. Jacob Gest, about 53 years of age. Mr. Gest was an old resident of this county, and an esteemed citizen. He has left a widow and a large family and numerous circle of friends to mourn the loss of a husband and father, and devoted friend. He had been an exemplary member of the M.E. Church for more than 30 years. (OH Sun)

Clermont Courier, June 1, 1843 (pg 59) "DIED We have this week the melancholy task to preform of the recording the death of a beloved parent. Our father, MR Jacob Gest, of Miami township is no more. He died of a pulmonary affection, after an illness of several weeks, at the age of about 53 years. The deceased was a native of Virginia..."

Notes for JAMES GEST:
JOHN HULICK was the founder and ancestor of the noted family of that name in Clermont, and gallantly served throughout the Revolutionary War in the New Jersey Line and lived in Sussex County in that State. After the War if 1812 he came to Batavia Township with all his children, but John and Cornelius, who remained and died in the East.

Those who came were James, who married Rebecca Weaver, and died November21, 1875, aged 88; Abraham who died February, 1871, aged 82; Mary, married to Thomas Tate, and died in 1880; Jane, married to James Gest; Sallie, married to Charles Robinson; Martha, twice married and lived in Illinois, and Lot, who died June 3,1878, aged 79. James was the father of Mrs. George R. Wageman and John W., Abraham, William W., Erastus and James Hulick, so well known as leading farmers. Lot married Rhoda, a daughter of Ezekiel and Phoebe Gest Dimmitt, and children were Martha, Jane, Ezekiel, Mary, George W., the ex-Congressman and well-known lawyer; Elizabeth, Amanda, and Keziah.

14. JOSEPH⁶ MEGRUE (ANDREW⁵, ANDREW⁴ MCGREW, JAMES³, ROBERT², WILLIAM¹) was born 1798 in Baltimore, MD, and died 1823 in Milford, Clermont Co., OH. He married MARY ANN GEST 09 Jul 1818 in Clermont Co., OH. She died 1864 in Cincinnati, OH.
