As a child growing up in Eastern Kentucky (Johnson County)I never took the time or interest in my ancestors. Now looking back I have wished many times that while my grandmothers, grandfathers, aunts and uncles were still living that I had taken the time and interest in learning more about them.
My search has been a long hard one, but it has been a pleasurable journey. I have the fortune to have both my parents living, and it has been great fun listening to them talk about our ancestors. Their memories have dimmed some but most is remembered quite vividly.
I have met a lot of distant cousins, and not so distant cousins, via the internet, telephone, and in person. I have learned that Loretta Webb Lynn (famous country singer) and her famous country singer sister Crystal Gayle are my 4th cousins. I have ancestors that were statesmen, doctors, lawyers, ministers, outlaws and down-to-earth godfearing people and I feel a great kinship to each one of them.
Searching for the surnames, Blair, (originating from Ireland), Conley, Fairchild, Ratliff, Phipps, Henderson, Jackson, Cantrell, Estep, Salyer, and Kimbleton in Kentucky for the counties of Johnson, Floyd, Magoffin, and Morgan...
I will appreciate any help that anyone can give me. Please read and enjoy my family tree. If you discover errors please feel free to email corrections as it is my goal to produce an accurate family tree, one that someday I can pass on to my two daughters and my 4 granddaughters.
