| I am interested in contacting any Cherrington Family members who may be interested in exchanging information about the Family history & genealogy. I am descended from Richard William and Mary Eastman Cherrington who were descended from a line which originated in Gloucester, England. That line has been traced back as far as 1706. Richard and Mary and some 10 of their 15 children emigrated to the USA in about 1906. The current Cherrington population in the UK covers the entire country, from Cornwall to Arbroath, but the largest concentration by far is in the Midlands, around Birmingham, Coventry and Wolverhampton. I currently have a database of Cherrington families in the UK (also for USA/Canada and Australia/New Zealand and South Africa) and intend writing to all of these individuals in due course asking for any information they may have. Many, but not all, of the Cherringtons living in USA today are descendants of a Clement Cherrington who came to Philadelphia from Cheltenham, England about 1729 or 1734. There are more than 14,000 names of descandants and family members of this Clement. Early generations lived in Pennsylvania and Ohio but today are scattered throughout the Country. Additionally of course there are also the descendants of the dynasty founded by Richard and Mary early in the 20th Century. Also, the descendants of one Joseph Cherrington of Bromwich, England whose descendants emigrated to the USA before 1888. Both of these groups were Mormons and settled in the Western US. I would like to invite inquiries and opportunities for mutual assistance. |
