*ANNUAL BRYANT FAMILY REUNION - HELD FIRST SATURDAY IN OCTOBER*
Next reunion -- SATURDAY, OCTOBER 6, 2007
Held at the Smith Chapel Church Family Life Building - on Hwy 8 between Fordyce and New Edinburg, Arkansas

We have traced our particular line of Bryants definitively back to William Bryant (1757-1833) & Mary Ann "Polly" Barnett (1765-1860). They were married on March 4, 1784 at the home of her father, Zadock Barnett in Wilkes County, Georgia. We do not know the exact birthplace of William but suspect it was Virginia. Other facts about William include: he served in the Revolutionary War, enlisting as a Private at the age of 20 on 12 January 1777 from Amherst County, Virginia, in the 14th Virginia Regiment. He participated in the battles of Brandywine, Germantown, Monmouth, and was wounded in the leg at Stony Point, NY. He was discharged in February 1780 at Reading, Pennsylvania. We believe he may have been given a land grant for his military service and migrated to Georgia prior to his marriage. He appears on the 1800 census for Oglethorpe County, GA. Subsequent census records find him in the counties of Gwinnett, Campbell, and Morgan.

We would like to find out more about William's parents and siblings. Names that recur in researching are William, Ambrose, and James. We would appreciate hearing from anyone researching the Bryant (Briant, Bryan) name to determine if we have a connection.

William and Mary Ann had eight children: Austin, Elizabeth (m. Joshua Ballard), Elijah, John, George W., Sarah (m. Levi Cook), James Bluford, and William, Jr. My ancestor, Austin, migrated to Arkansas around 1856. His descendants reside in the present day counties of Cleveland, Bradley, and Calhoun.

Our family is composed of over 2000 individuals (that we know of!) who descended from these two individuals! We are always looking for new "cousins" and welcome any new information anyone can add to our ever-expanding database of Bryants. Other areas to which Bryants migrated include Georgia, Alabama, and Texas.

Reports below include a complete list of descendants minus birthdates for privacy reasons. For specific information on a name or location, please email me. This family research has been a work in progress for MANY years! Many other family members have contributed to the knowledge that I have tried to put into a manageable form for others. Most notibly, credit should go to my mother, Reba Bryant Morgan, and the late Laurene Bryant Beckett and W.B. Bryant. Others who have contributed to the total descendant list include persons from the various other family lines who share William and Mary Ann Bryant as common ancestors and also other family members of the various other families who have crossed our paths along the way. Please contact me by e-mail for more specific information.
