***MARTIN/BLACKMON marriages CRENSHAW CO. ALABAMA
My Grandfather was William M. MARTIN b. 1891 in Luverne Crenshaw Co. AL. He married Vonie Lou LITTLE and lived around Baker and Escambia Farms (1940s) area of Okaloosa Co. FL. His parents, according to funeral records were Annie BLACKMON and Berry (Melvin Barry)MARTIN b. 1869 Crenshaw Co. AL. They were married in Crenshaw Co. Alabama Jan 30, 1890. By 1899 Annie had died and was buried in Cool Springs or Clear Springs Cem. in Covington Co., AL. Berry MARTIN then married Sarah J.(REDMON)HOLLOWAY in Coffee Co. AL. Berry MARTIN and his second wife, Sarah and children are in the 1900 Covington Co. AL census living in Greenbay area. According to the funeral records for Berry Martin, he is buried at Pilgrim's Rest Cem. in NW FL. His daughter Minnie's funeral records list his name as Barry Askew Martin. Melvin Berry Martin's parents were Neal MARTIN and Mt BLACKMON. I suspect this may be Cornelius MARTIN and Martha BLACKMON that married in 1868 in Crenshaw Co. Alabama.
Also wonder if this Cornelius MARTIN is the one who married a Mary J. ASHLEY in Butler Co. AL 1861. Also, could he be Niel MARTIN b.1832/33, son of John C. MARTIN b. 1803 NC and Anna Lou SPRADLEY b. abt 1808 SC? They were listed in the 1850 Montgomery Co. AL census. Their children were:
**Neil b. 1833 AL
**Penelope b. 1835 AL married George W. Criel 1857 Barbour Co., AL
**Rachel J. b. 1837 AL married John W. Cubstead 1868 Crenshaw Co., Alabama
**John M. (W?) b. 1839 AL
**Andrew Jackson b. 1841 AL m. Apr 22, 1860 to Sarah Elizabeth Waller in Montgomery Co., AL
**Susanna M. b. 1843 AL
**M.E.S. Vashti (Vashtel) b. 1845 AL m. James Blackmon 1868 in Crenshaw Co., AL. James Blackmon was the son of William Blackmon born in SC and Gincy (Jency) H. born in SC according to Butler co., AL census records.
**C. Rebecca b. 1847
**Jason T. b. 1848 m. Mar 10, 1867 to Nancy Ann Davis
**C.H. (Hawkins?) b. 1849 AL - married 1870 Crenshaw Co., AL to Elizabeth Tersey Taylor d/o Randal T. Taylor and his wife Tersey A.? Is C. H. the Hawkins Martin buried in Fairview Cem. Crenshaw Co. AL?
b. Dec 10, 1850 d. Feb 16, 1913
John C. Martin's wife ANN and the above mentioned children were in the 1860 Butler Co., AL census without John C. Martin.A few of these children ended up in Crenshaw Co. AL marriages in the late 1860s as my Neal MARTIN and Mt BLACKMON did. This is what has led me to believe he may belong to this family.
Any clues will be greatly appreciated. Would like to hear from any possible "cousins".
